Ingredients
- 8 ounces linguine
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon slices, for garnish
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the linguine according to the package directions until al dente. Before draining, reserve about ½ cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and set it aside.
Step 2: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce
While the pasta cooks, heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until the butter has melted.
Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant. If using, stir in the red pepper flakes for a subtle touch of heat.
Step 3: Cook the Shrimp
Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Season lightly with salt and black pepper, then cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and just cooked through.
Stir in the fresh lemon juice for a bright, fresh finish.
Step 4: Toss Everything Together
Add the cooked linguine to the skillet and gently toss until every strand is coated in the buttery garlic sauce. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.
Sprinkle in the chopped parsley and toss once more to combine.
Step 5: Serve
Divide the pasta among serving plates and garnish with extra parsley, fresh lemon slices, and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Serve immediately while hot.
