Free knitted crocodile pencil case pattern

Lower Jaw:
Knit with green yarn.
Secure the yarn to the body two stitches away from the upper jaw.
Row 1: ch, 12 sc, turn (12 sc)
Rows 2-14: ch, 12 sc, turn (12 sc)
Row 15: ch, dec, 8 sc, dec, turn (10 sc)
Row 16: ch, work without changes (10 sc)
Row 17: dec, 6 sc, dec, turn (8 sc)
Row 18: ch, work without changes (8 sc)
Row 19: ch, dec, 4 sc, dec (6 sc)
Fasten off.
Attach green yarn to the edge of the lower jaw (corner of the mouth) and crochet along the edge, secure the jaw with a slip stitch on the opposite side of the mouth (other corner of the mouth).

Eyes (2 pieces):
Knit with green yarn.
Row 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sc)
Row 2: inc*6 times (12 sc)
Rows 3-6: work without changes (12 sc)
Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Legs (4 pieces):
Knit two legs with blue yarn and two legs with dark blue yarn.
Row 1: 5 sc in magic ring (5 sc)
Row 2: inc*5 times (10 sc)
Rows 3-7: work without changes (10 sc)
Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Spikes:
Make 2 pieces in each color: blue, light blue, dark blue, turquoise.
Row 1: 5 sc in magic ring (5 sc)
Row 2: work without changes (5 sc)
Row 3: inc*5 times (10 sc)
Row 4: work without changes (10 sc)
Fasten off.

Lining for the Pencil Case (inside the body):
You may skip the lining if your yarn is dense enough.
Knit with any yarn.
Row 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sc)
Row 2: inc6 times (12 sc) Row 3: (sc, inc)6 times (18 sc)
Row 4: (2 sc, inc)6 times (24 sc) Row 5: (3 sc, inc)6 times (30 sc)
Row 6: (4 sc, inc)6 times (36 sc) Rows 7-19: work without changes (36 sc) Row 20: (4 sc, dec)6 times (30 sc)
Rows 21-24: work without changes (30 sc)
Fasten off.

Jaw Lining:
The inner lining of the jaw consists of two pieces: the inner part of the upper jaw and the inner part of the lower jaw. Knit the pieces according to the pattern of the upper and lower jaw, but without edging.

Assembly:

  1. Insert the safety eyes (pupils) into the knitted eyes (eyeball).
  2. Sew the eyes to the body of the knitted crocodile.
  3. Sew the spikes down the center of the back, alternating colors.
  4. Sew the legs to the sides of the body.
  5. Sew the zipper to the upper and lower jaws so that the pencil case can be zipped closed.
  6. Sew the linings to the pencil case.
