Free crochet pattern for a small elf amigurumi

Difficulty Level: Medium

With this pattern, you can crochet a little elf boy in a striped outfit and hat. For this amigurumi project, you will need YarnArt Jeans yarn. Each color will require about 5-8 grams. You can choose your preferred colors. The elf’s ears and cheeks are tinted with pastels or blush. The toy can also be made into a keychain.

The finished elf will be around 10-12 cm tall.

Materials and Tools:

  • YarnArt Jeans yarn (approx. 5-8g each color)
    Colors: №01-white, №68-denim, №85-ginger, №51-red, №07-skin tone
  • Crochet hook size 1.75-2 mm
  • 6-7 mm safety eyes
  • Toy stuffing
  • Stitch markers
  • Pins
  • Dry pastels for tinting
  • Sewing needle for joining parts
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • MR — magic ring
  • ch — chain
  • sl st — slip stitch

Amigurumi Elf Crochet Instructions:

Arms (Make 2)
Start with skin tone yarn:

  1. 6 sc in MR (6)
  2. 6 sc
    Change to red yarn:

    Change to white yarn:
    5-6. 6 sc
    Change to red yarn:

    Change to white yarn:
    8-9. 6 sc (2 rounds)

Switch back to red, fold the arm in half and crochet 3 sc across. Cut the yarn, no need to stuff. Secure the yarn, leaving a tail if you’re planning to sew the arms later.

Ears (Make 2)
With skin tone yarn:

Fold the ear in half and crochet 6 sc. Fold in half again and crochet 3 sc. Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Hair (Ginger yarn)
Attach the yarn to row 28 in FLO.

Long strands: 9 ch, 8 sc from the second chain, 2 sc – repeat 6-7 times.
Short strands: 3 ch, 2 sc from the second chain, 2 sc – repeat 9 times.

Finish decorating the toy, embroider the details (eyebrows, nose, and mouth) and the elf is ready!
