Materials:
- I use YarnArt Jeans yarn (you can use any yarn you like).
I used yarn in the following colors: - Clover hook 2 mm (or any other suitable for your yarn and crochet tension).
- 6 mm safety eyes (or half-beads if you want to simply glue the eyes).
- Hollow fiber stuffing.
- Scissors.
- Wide-eyed needle for sewing the parts together.
Toy height is about 10 cm (when using the materials specified in the pattern).
Abbreviations:
- KA – amigurumi ring;
- ch – chain stitch;
- sc – single crochet;
- inc – increase (2 stitches in one stitch);
- dec – decrease (crochet 2 stitches together);
- sl st – slip stitch;
- (sc, inc) x n – repeat the part in parentheses n times.
Head and body:
1) 6 sc in KA
2) 6 inc (12)
3) (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
4) (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
5) (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
6) (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36)
7) (5 sc, inc) x 6 (42)
Change the yarn to the next color in advance to create smooth transitions. Examples of yarn change during a decrease and after regular sc are shown below:
8) 14 sc (black), 4 sc (white), 4 sc (black), 4 sc (white), 16 sc (black) (42)
9-12) 13 sc (black), 6 sc (white), 2 sc (black), 6 sc (white), 15 sc (black) (42)
13-14) 13 sc (black), 14 sc (white), 15 sc (black) (42)
Head and body:
Insert 6 mm eyes between the 11th and 12th rows, positioning them symmetrically on the white part:
15) (5 sc, dec) x 2 (black), 5 sc, dec, 5 sc (white), dec, (5 sc, dec) x 2 (black) (36)
16) (4 sc, dec) x 2, 1 sc (black), (3 sc, dec, 4 sc) – white, dec, (3 sc, dec, 3 sc) – black (30)
17) (3 sc, dec) x 2, 2 sc (black), 1 sc, dec, 3 sc (white), dec, (3 sc, dec) x 2 (black) (24)
Switch yarn to light gray (if you want to make a solid-colored penguin, continue crocheting with the main color):
18) 2 sc, dec x 6 (18)
Beak:
1) 6 sc in KA
2) (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
3) 9 sc, sl st
Leave the yarn for sewing, stuff lightly.
Head and body:
Stuff the head firmly and start crocheting the body:
19) 18 inc (36)
20-21) 36 sc (36)
22) (5 sc, inc) x 6 (42)
23-27) 42 sc (5 rows)
28) (5 sc, dec) x 6 (36)
29) (4 sc, dec) x 6 (30)
30) (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
Stuff the body thoroughly.
31) (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)
32) (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
33) 6 dec (6)
Pull the hole tight, secure the yarn, and hide it inside the piece.
Legs (2 pieces):
1) Chain 6, in the second stitch from the hook, inc, 3 sc along the chain, 3 sc in the last stitch, crochet 4 sc on the other side of the chain (12)
2-3) 12 sc
4) (4 sc, dec) x 2 (10)
5) (3 sc, dec) x 2 (8)
6) 8 sc (8)
6) (2 sc, dec) x 2 (6)
Pull the hole tight through the front loops, leave the yarn for sewing.
Wings (2 pieces):
1) 6 sc in KA
2) 6 inc (12)
3-4) 12 sc
5) (5 sc, inc) x 2 (14)
6) (6 sc, inc) x 2 (16)
7) (7 sc, inc) x 2 (18)
8) (7 sc, dec) x 2 (16)
9) (6 sc, dec) x 2 (14)
10) (5 sc, dec) x 2 (12)
Fold in half and crochet 5 sc through both parts, leave the yarn for sewing.
Assembly and finishing:
Sew the beak where the black stripe on the head ends, in the middle.
Fluffy chest:
1) Chain 7, from the 4th stitch from the hook, crochet 4 DC along the chain, turn
2) Chain 3, 4 DC, leave the yarn for sewing.
Sew the wings between the 19th and 20th rows. Position the legs at the bottom of the body symmetrically, wherever you prefer. Sew the chest in the middle between the wings.
