Amigurumi Chick Pi Free Crochet Pattern

Difficulty Level: Easy

This free crochet pattern by Tvamtoys allows you to create a small baby chick using the amigurumi technique. The toy is made from plush yarn, crocheted as a single piece, and the beak and feet are embroidered with plush yarn. The chick can also be used as a keychain.

Materials and Tools:

  • Plush yarn: yellow and pink
  • Hook size: 4-4.5 mm
  • Safety eyes for toys
  • Stuffing for toys
  • Stitch markers
  • Needle for sewing parts
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • KA – Magic ring
  • ch – Chain stitch
  • sl st – Slip stitch
  • sc – Single crochet
  • inc – Increase
  • dec – Decrease
  • (…) x n – Repeat n times

Instructions for crocheting the amigurumi Chick Pi:

  1. Rnd 1: 6 sc in KA.
  2. Rnd 2: 6 inc (12).
  3. Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18).
  4. Rnd 4: 3 sc, ch 3, 2 sc back along the chain (first wing), 10 sc, ch 3, 2 sc back along the chain (second wing), 5 sc (18).
  5. Rnd 5: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12).
  6. Rnd 6: 6 dec, sl st.

Important! When crocheting the wings and tail, be careful: the wing attaches not to the same stitch but to the next one. The count of sc resumes from the stitch after the wing. In the next row, you work around the wings, without crocheting into them. Lift the wings upwards as you crochet to make sure they stay above the hook.

Happy crocheting and neat stitches!
