Plush yarn such as Wolans Bunny Baby or Himalaya Dolphin Baby will work well for this project. The bunny has crocheted-in details: upper and lower paws. Crochet Pattern for a Plush Bunny
Upper Paws (2 pieces):
- 6 sc in MR
- (2 sc, inc) x 2 = 8 sc
3-4. 8 sc (2 rounds) - (2 sc, dec) x 2 = 6 sc
6-7. 6 sc (2 rounds)
Fold the piece in half. Crochet 3 sc across both sides to close. Fasten off with a slip stitch.
Lower Paws (2 pieces):
- 6 sc in MR
- (1 sc, inc) x 3 = 9 sc
3-4. 9 sc (2 rounds) - (1 sc, dec) x 3 = 6 sc
6-8. 6 sc (3 rounds)
Fold the piece in half. Crochet 3 sc across both sides to close. Fasten off with a slip stitch.
Ears (2 pieces):
- 6 sc in MR
- 6 inc = 12 sc
3-5. 12 sc (3 rounds) - (1 sc, dec) x 4 = 8 sc
7-9. 8 sc (3 rounds) - (2 sc, dec) x 2 = 6 sc
11-12. 6 sc (2 rounds)
Fasten off with a slip stitch, leaving a long tail for sewing the ears to the head.
Tail:
- 6 sc in MR
- (1 sc, inc) x 3 = 9 sc
- (1 sc, dec) x 3 = 6 sc
Fasten off with a slip stitch, leaving a long tail for sewing the tail to the body.
Body (crocheted in one piece):
- 6 sc in MR
- 6 inc = 12 sc
- (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18 sc
- (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 sc
- 24 sc (1 round)
Now we start crocheting the lower paws:
- Crochet 3 sc together with the first paw, 9 sc across the body, 3 sc with the second paw, 9 sc across the body = 24 sc
7-9. 24 sc (3 rounds)
Next, we shape the belly with decreases:
- 3 sc, (1 sc, dec) x 3, 12 sc = 21 sc
- 1 sc, (1 sc, dec) x 3, 11 sc = 18 sc
In the next round, we crochet the upper paws. Make sure they are on the sides of the body:
- Crochet 3 sc together with the first paw, 5 sc across the body, 3 sc with the second paw, 7 sc across the body. Stuff the body, shaping the belly.
- (1 sc, dec) x 6 = 12 sc
Don’t cut the yarn yet; continue crocheting.
Head:
- (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18 sc
- (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 sc
- (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 sc
4-8. 30 sc (5 rounds) - (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24 sc
Insert safety eyes between the 5th and 6th rounds, spaced 3 stitches apart. The nose should be placed between the 4th and 5th rounds.
- (2 sc, dec) x 6 = 18 sc
- (1 sc, dec) x 6 = 12 sc
- 6 dec
Close the remaining hole, fasten off, and weave in the ends.
Finishing:
- Sew all the parts together.
- Add a slight indentation to the muzzle for shaping.
- Embroider the eyebrows and nose.
