In the next row, indicate which stitches should be centered. If your stitches do not match, crochet or unravel additional stitches to ensure the indicated stitches are centered.
Row 7: 3 dc (the second dc should be centered at the back), 9 sc, hdc, dc (centered at the front), hdc, 12 sc.
Fold the two pieces together and crochet 7 sl st, leaving a small opening.
Crochet a row of single crochets around the opening. I have 9 sc. sl st into the stitch where you started the row.
Fold in half and crochet 4 sl st through both sides.
Change the yarn to red in the last stitch to crochet the comb.
Crochet the comb in the chain formed by joining the two sides of the fabric.
2 ch, into the same stitch 2 dc, into the next stitch sl st, 2 ch, into the third stitch 2 dc, sl st.
Hide all the yarn ends. Embroider the beak, glue the eyes, and sew the wings to prevent them from sticking out.
Your chicken is ready.
